Search is where I've spent my career.

I've worked in search for over 20 years, on both the paid and organic side. For nine years I managed $6M+ a year in Google and Microsoft Ads, so I know which searches turn into customers and which ones waste money. That data decides which pages and listings I fix first.

What is AI search optimization?

AI search optimization (also called GEO or AEO) is making sure your business shows up when people ask AI tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity or Google's AI Overviews for a recommendation. It builds on regular SEO. AI tools pull from the same web pages, business profiles, reviews and listings that search engines use, so the work is making those sources complete, consistent and easy to quote.

How do I get my business recommended by ChatGPT?

ChatGPT recommends businesses it can find and trust across the web. The biggest levers are a complete Google Business Profile, consistent listings on the directories and review sites it reads, a steady flow of recent reviews, and clear pages that say exactly what you do and where. Your website also has to let ChatGPT's search crawler, OAI-SearchBot, in.

Does Google still matter if people are using AI?

Yes. Google still handled about 94% of US search activity in early 2026, and Google's own AI answers are built from its search index. Getting found on Google and getting found in AI answers are mostly the same work.

How long does SEO take to work?
